أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، سَمِعَ قَسَامَةَ بْنَ زُهَيْرٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى خَلَقَ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْضَةٍ قَبَضَهَا مِنْ جَمِيعِ الأَرْضِ ، فَجَاءَ بَنُو آدَمَ عَلَى قَدْرِ الأَرْضِ ، مِنْهُمُ الأَحْمَرُ وَالأَسْوَدُ ، وَالأَبْيَضُ وَالأَصْفَرُ ، وَبَيْنَ ذَلِكَ ، وَالسَّهْلُ وَالْحَزْنُ ، وَالْخَبِيثُ وَالطِّيبُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah the Exalted created Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) from a soil that was gathered from all over the earth. Therefore, the children of Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) possess the characteristics of the earth. Among them are some who are red, some who are white, some who are black, some who are yellow, some who are in between, some who are easy-going, some who are sorrowful, some who are evil-natured, and some who are pure-natured."
