Hadith 6140

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِِشْكَابٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ مَعْنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مُحْرِزٍ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَاقَتِي مَعْقُولَةٌ بِالْبَابِ إِِذْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ! جِئْنَاكَ لِنَتَفَقَّهَ فِي الدِّينِ ، وَنَسْأَلَكَ عَنْ أَوَّلِ هَذَا الأَمْرِ ، مَا كَانَ ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَانَ اللَّهُ وَلَيْسَ شَيْءٌ غَيْرَهُ ، وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ ، ثُمَّ كَتَبَ فِي الذِّكْرِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ ، ثُمَّ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ " . قَالَ : فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا عِمْرَانُ ، أَدْرِكْ نَاقَتَكَ ، فَقَدِ انْفَلَتَتْ ، فَإِِذَا السَّرَابُ يَنْقَطِعُ دُونَهَا ، وَايْمُ اللَّهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّى كُنْتُ تَرَكْتُهَا .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and my she-camel was tied at the door of the mosque. Meanwhile, some people from Banu Tamim came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! We have come to you to learn about the religion. We want to ask you about the beginning of this matter, how did it happen? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: First, there was only Allah, and there was nothing else besides Him. The Throne was upon the water. Then He wrote everything in the Dhikr (i.e., in the Glorious Qur’an or in the Preserved Tablet). Then He created the heavens and the earth. The narrator says: Meanwhile, a man came and said: O Imran, catch your she-camel, she has broken the rope and gone away. The mirage would have disappeared before that. (Sayyiduna Imran, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates) By Allah! I wish I had left the she-camel (and kept listening to the conversation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him).
