Hadith 6086

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ ، أَنَّ خَالِدَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ الْمَعَافِرِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ مِشْرَحِ بْنِ هَاعَانَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ عَلَّقَ تَمِيمَةً فَلا أَتَمَّ اللَّهُ لَهُ ، وَمَنْ عَلَّقَ وَدَعَةً فَلا وَدَعَ اللَّهُ لَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever hangs an amulet (according to the customs of the Age of Ignorance), may Allah not fulfill his (purpose), and whoever hangs a thread (according to the customs of the Age of Ignorance), may Allah not fulfill it for him."
