Hadith 6046

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : كَشَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السِّتْرَ ، وَرَأْسُهُ مَعْصُوبٌ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ، ثَلاثًا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ مُبَشِّرَاتِ النُّبُوَّةِ إِلا الرُّؤْيَا يَرَاهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ ، أَوْ تُرَى لَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) removed the curtain, and he had a bandage tied on his head. This was during the illness in which he passed away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! Have I conveyed (the message)? He said this three times. (Then he said:) Of the glad tidings of Prophethood, now only dreams remain, which a righteous person sees (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) or which are shown to him.
