Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a verdict regarding a child in the womb that as compensation, a slave or a slave-girl or a horse or a mule should be given. The person against whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave this verdict said: Should we pay compensation for one who has neither eaten nor drunk, who has neither cried out nor wept? Such blood is usually wasted. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He is speaking like the poets. In such a situation, as compensation, a slave or a slave-girl or a horse or a mule must be given.
