أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْقَطَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هَانِئٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، عن النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ ، السُّنَّةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا ، مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ : ثَلاثٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ : ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ ، وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ ، وَالْمُحَرَّمُ ، وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا ؟ " قُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ ، قَالَ : " أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْحِجَّةِ ؟ " قُلْنَا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " أَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا ؟ " قُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ ، قَالَ : " أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْبَلْدَةَ ؟ " قُلْنَا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا ؟ " قُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : " أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ ؟ " قُلْنَا : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ ، وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ : وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ : وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا ، فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا ، وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ ، أَلا فَلا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي ضُلالًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ ، أَلا لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ مِنْكُمُ الْغَائِبَ ، فَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَ مَنْ يَبْلُغُهُ يَكُونُ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ " ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ إِذَا ذَكَرَهُ يَقُولُ : صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ، قَدْ كَانَ ذَاكَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ؟ أَلا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ؟ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Since Allah Almighty created the heavens and the earth, time has been revolving in its cycle. The year consists of twelve months, of which four are sacred months. Three of them come consecutively: Dhu al-Qa'dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and Muharram, while the month of Rajab comes between Jumada al-Thani and Sha'ban. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Which month is this? We replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The narrator says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent until we thought that perhaps he would give it a new name. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Is it not Dhu al-Hijjah? We replied: Yes. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Which city is this? We replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The narrator says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent until we thought that perhaps he would give it another name. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is it not al-Baldah? We replied: Yes. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Which day is this? We replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is it not the Day of Sacrifice? We replied: Yes. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Your lives, your wealth (here the narrator named Muhammad says: I think these words are also in the narration), and your honor are as sacred to one another as this day is sacred in this city. Soon you will meet your Lord, and He will question you about your deeds. Beware! Do not go astray after me, striking the necks of one another. Let those present convey (this message) to those who are absent, for sometimes the one to whom it is conveyed may preserve it better than the one who heard it directly (from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him).
The narrator states: Whenever the narrator named Muhammad mentioned this hadith, he used to say: Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth; it is so. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware! Have I conveyed (the message)? Have I conveyed (the message)?
