أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، حَدَّثَنَا كَهْمَسٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُغَفَّلِ ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَجُلا يَخْذِفُ ، قَالَ : لا تَخْذِفْ ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَهَى عَنِ الْخَذْفِ ، أَوْ قَالَ : كَرِهَ الْخَذْفَ ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّهُ لا يُصَادُ بِهِ صَيْدٌ ، وَلا يُنْكَأُ بِهِ عَدُوٌّ ، وَلَكِنَّهَا قَدْ تَكْسِرُ السِّنَّ ، وَتَفْقَأُ الْعَيْنَ " ، ثُمَّ رَآهُ يَخْذِفُ فَقَالَ : أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ أَنْتَ تَخْذِفُ ؟ ! لا أُكَلِّمُكَ كَذَا وَكَذَا .
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw a man throwing pebbles, so he said: "Do not throw pebbles, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade throwing pebbles." (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared throwing pebbles to be disliked." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No game can be hunted with it, no enemy can be killed with it; only a tooth can be broken and an eye can be gouged out with it." Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) again saw that man throwing pebbles, so he said: "I have narrated to you a hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and yet you are still throwing pebbles. I will never speak to you for such and such a period."
