Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating the meat of the sacrifice after three days. The narrator named Abdullah bin Abu Bakr says: I mentioned this narration to Amrah bint Abdur Rahman, so she informed me: I heard Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrate that once, during the sacred era of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, some people from the villages came. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You may store (i.e., the meat of the sacrifice) for only three days; whatever remains after that, give it in charity. The female narrator named Amrah says: Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) informed that after this, it was submitted to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Previously, people used to benefit from their sacrificial animals; they would preserve their fat and make water skins from their (hides). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What has happened now? The people said: O Messenger of Allah! You forbade the use of sacrificial meat after three days (so now people do not do so). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I forbade you because of the arrival of those (poor people) who had come to you. Now you may eat it, give it in charity, and store it as well.

(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The word "dāfah" means the group that came to ask (for charity).
