Hadith 5898

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : أَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَنَمًا أَقْسِمُهَا عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ ، فَقَسَمْتُهَا ، فَبَقِيَ مِنْهَا عَتُودٌ ، فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " ضَحِّ بِهِ أَنْتَ " .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me some goats so that I could distribute them among his companions. I distributed them, and among them, a six-month-old kid remained. I mentioned this to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said: Sacrifice it yourself.
