Nafi’ narrates: He heard the son of Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) telling Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): His father (i.e., Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him) told him: He had a slave girl who was grazing goats near the mountain of “Sala’.” She saw one of her goats about to die, so she broke a stone and slaughtered it with that stone. Then Sayyiduna Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) told his family: Do not eat its meat until I go to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and ask him about this. So I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about it. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Our slave girl was grazing goats near the mountain of “Sala’.” She saw one of the goats about to die, so she broke a stone and slaughtered it with that. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted them to eat the meat of that (goat).
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) This narration is transmitted from Nafi’ from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and also from Nafi’ from the son of Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Malik from his father. So all its routes are preserved.
