أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا اشْتَرَتْ نُمْرُقَةً فِيهَا تَصَاوِيرُ ، فَلَمَّا رَآهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ عَلَى الْبَابِ فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ ، فَعَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَتُوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ، وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ ، فَمَاذَا أَذْنَبْتُ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَمَا بَالُ هَذِهِ النُّمْرُقَةِ ؟ " فَقَالَتِ : اشْتَرَيْتُهَا لَكَ ، تَقْعُدُ عَلَيْهَا وَتَوَسَّدُهَا ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ هَذِهِ الصُّوَرِ يُعَذَّبُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ : أَحْيُوا مَا خَلَقْتُمْ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْبَيْتَ الَّذِي فِيهِ الصُّوَرُ لا تَدْخُلُهُ الْمَلائِكَةُ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : يُشْبِهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ هَذَا الْبَيْتُ الَّذِي يُوحَى فِيهِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذْ مُحَالٌ أَنْ يَكُونَ رَجُلٌ فِي بَيْتٍ ، وَفِيهِ صُورَةٌ أَنْ يَكُونَ حَافِظَاهُ مَعَهُ ، وَهُمَا مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ ، وَكَذَلِكَ مَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ : " لا تَصْحَبِ الْمَلائِكَةُ رُفْقَةً فِيهَا كَلْبٌ أَوْ جَرَسٌ " ، يُرِيدُ بِهِ رُفْقَةً فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذْ مُحَالٌ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ الْحَاجُّ وَالْعُمَّارُ مِنْ أَقَاصِي الْمُدُنِ وَالأَقْطَارِ يَؤُمُّونَ الْبَيْتَ الْعَتِيقَ عَلَى نَعَمٍ وَعِيسٍ بِأَجْرَاسٍ وَكِلابٍ ثُمَّ لا تَصْحَبُهَا الْمَلائِكَةُ وَهُمْ وَفْدُ اللَّهِ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: She bought a curtain on which there were pictures. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw it, he stopped at the door and did not enter the house. I noticed signs of displeasure on the face of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! I repent before Allah and His Messenger. What sin have I committed? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Where did this curtain come from? Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: I bought it for you so that you may sit on it and lean against it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The makers of these pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection. It will be said to them: Bring to life what you have created. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Indeed, the angels do not enter a house in which there are pictures.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) It is possible that this refers to the house in which revelation used to descend upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Now, it is impossible that if a person is present in a house and there is a picture in it, the angels who protect the person would not enter the house, even though they too are angels. Similarly, regarding the statement of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "The angels do not accompany riders with whom there is a dog or a bell," by this the Prophet (peace be upon him) meant those riders who travel together. Now, it is impossible that pilgrims or those performing Umrah, who set out from distant cities and intend to come to the Ancient House riding camels and animals, and with them are bells and dogs, and then the angels do not accompany them, even though they are guests of Allah Almighty.
