Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: He heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: If Allah wills and I remain alive, I will prohibit that anyone be named Barakah (Blessing), Nafi‘ (Beneficial), or Aflah (Successful). (The narrator says) I do not know whether the word Aflah is in the narration or not. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, but he had not prohibited this. After that, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to prohibit it, but then he also left it.
