Hadith 5822

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِجَدِّهِ : " مَا اسْمُكَ ؟ " قَالَ : " حَزْنٌ " ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بَلْ أَنْتَ سَهْلٌ " ، قَالَ : لا ، أُغَيِّرُ اسْمًا سَمَّانِيهِ أَبِي قَالَ سَعِيدٌ : فَمَا زَالَتْ فِينَا حُزُونَةٌ بَعْدُ .
Saeed bin Musayyib narrates from his father: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked his grandfather, "What is your name?" He replied, "Huzn (meaning sadness)." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Rather, you are Sahl (meaning ease)." He replied, "I do not wish to change the name that my father gave me." Saeed bin Musayyib says: After that, he always remained sorrowful.
