Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a woman named ‘Asiyah: “You are Jameelah (beautiful).” (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do this because he intended a bad omen from the name ‘Asiyah, rather he wanted to take a good omen from the word Jameelah, and the same ruling applies to other such names. For the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has prohibited taking bad omens, as mentioned in another narration. S
