Hadith 5809

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنِ الزُهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : اطَّلَعَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ حُجْرٍ فِي حُجْرَةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبِيَدِهِ مِدْرًى يَحُكُّ بِهِ رَأْسَهُ ، فَرَآهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَنْظُرُ لَطَعَنْتُ بِهِ فِي عَيْنِكَ ، إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الإِذْنُ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَصَرِ " .
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man peeped into the blessed chamber of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a comb in his blessed hand with which he was scratching his head. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw him, he said: If I had known that you were peeping like this, I would have poked this comb into your eye. Permission to enter has been ordained so that (the household) may not be seen.
