Hadith 5788

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، أَخُو مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَمَّا دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ قَامَ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ سِمَاطَيْنِ ، قَالَ : وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ يَمْشِي ، وَيَقُولُ : خَلُّوا بَنِي الْكُفَّارِ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ الْيَوْمَ نَضْرِبْكُمْ عَلَى تَنْزِيلِهِ ضَرْبًا يُزِيلُ الْهَامَ عَنْ مَقِيلِهِ وَيُذْهِلُ الْخَلِيلَ عَنْ خَلِيلِهِ يَا رَبِّ إِنِّي مُؤْمِنٌ بِقِيلِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : يَا ابْنَ رَوَاحَةَ ، أَتَقُولُ الشِّعْرَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ! قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَهْ يَا عُمَرُ ، لَهَذَا أَشَدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ وَقْعِ النَّبْلِ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) entered Makkah, the people of Makkah stood on both sides. The narrator states: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah was walking ahead reciting these verses: O children of the disbelievers, move away from the path of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Today, according to the command of the Qur'an, we will strike you with such a blow that will separate the head from the body and will separate friend from friend. O my Lord, surely I believe in Your command. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: O Ibn Rawahah! Are you reciting poetry in front of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: O Umar! Let him do it. These verses are more severe (painful) for them (the disbelievers) than being struck with spears.
