Hadith 5773

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ وَرَّادٍ ، كَاتَبِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ لَوْ رَأَيْتُ رَجُلا مَعَ امْرَأَتِي لَضَرَبْتُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ غَيْرَ مُصْفِحٍ عَنْهُ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَلا تَعْجَبُونَ مِنْ غَيْرَةِ سَعْدٍ ؟ فَوَاللَّهِ لأَنَا أَغْيَرُ مِنْهُ ، وَاللَّهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي ، وَمِنْ أَجْلِ غَيْرَةِ اللَّهِ حَرَّمَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ ، وَلا شَخْصَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ الْعُذْرُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، وَمِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنْذِرِينَ ، وَلا شَخَصَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ الْمَدْحُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ " .
Sayyiduna Mughira bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Sa’d bin ‘Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I found a man with my wife, I would strike him with the sword without pardon. This was reported to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he said: Are you amazed at Sa’d’s sense of honor? By Allah, I am more possessive than him, and Allah is more possessive than me. And because of His sense of honor, Allah has forbidden open and hidden indecencies. And there is nothing more beloved to anyone than presenting an excuse as it is to Allah; for this reason, He sent messengers as bearers of glad tidings and as warners. And there is no one for whom praise is more beloved than it is to Allah; for this reason, Allah has promised Paradise (for those who praise Him).
