Hadith 5757

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " تَجِدُونَ النَّاسَ مَعَادِنَ ، فَخِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الإِسْلامِ إِذَا فَقُهُوا ، وَتَجِدُونَ خَيْرَ النَّاسِ فِي هَذَا الأَمْرِ أَكْرَهَهُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقَعَ فِيهِ ، وَتَجِدُونَ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّاسِ ذَا الْوَجْهَيْنِ ، الَّذِي يَأْتِي هَؤُلاءِ بِوَجْهٍ ، وَهَؤُلاءِ بِوَجْهٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will find people like minerals; those who were good in the time of ignorance will also be considered good in Islam, provided they gain understanding of (religious rulings). And regarding this matter, you will find the best among you to be the one who dislikes it the most before he becomes involved in it. And among you, the worst person you will find is the two-faced one, who comes to these people with one face and goes to those people with another face."
