أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ أَبُو حَزْرَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سِرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهُوَ يَطْلُبُ الْمَجْدِيَّ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْجُهَنِيَّ ، وَكَانَ النَّاضِحُ يَعْتَقِبُهُ مِنَّا الْخَمْسَةُ ، وَالسِّتَّةُ وَالسَّبْعَةُ ، فَدَنَا عُقْبَةُ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ عَلَى نَاضِحٍ لَهُ ، فَأَنَاخَهُ فَرَكِبَهُ ، ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُ ، فَتَلَدَّنَ عَلَيْهِ بَعْضَ التَّلَدُّنِ ، فَقَالَ : شَأْ ! لَعَنَكَ اللَّهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ هَذَا اللاعِنُ بَعِيرَهُ ؟ " قَالَ : أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " انْزِلْ عَنْهُ ، فَلا تَصْحَبْنَا بِمَلْعُونٍ ، لا تَدْعُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ ، وَلا تَدْعُوا عَلَى أَوْلادِكُمْ ، وَلا تَدْعُوا عَلَى أَمْوَالِكُمْ ، لا تُوَافِقُوا مِنَ السَّاعَةِ فَيَسْتَجِيبَ لَكُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates: Once we were traveling with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). You (peace be upon him) were searching for Majdi bin Amr Jahni. Our condition was such that five, six, or seven of us would ride one camel in turns. A man from the Ansar, whose name was Uqbah, came to his camel. He made it sit down so that he could mount it, then he made it stand up, but the camel acted a bit mischievously. So that man said: "Get up, may Allah curse you." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) inquired, "Who is the one who cursed his camel?" That man replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! It is I." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Get down from it. Do not keep a cursed one with us. Do not invoke curses upon yourselves, nor upon your possessions, for you do not know if it may coincide with a time in which the supplication is accepted for you."
