Hadith 5730

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِشَارِبٍ ، فَقَالَ : " اضْرِبُوهُ " ، فَمِنَّا الضَّارِبُ بِيَدِهِ ، وَمِنَّا الضَّارِبُ بِنَعْلِهِ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ : أَخْزَاكَ اللَّهُ ! فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تَقُولُوا هَكَذَا ، لا تُعِينُوا الشَّيْطَانَ عَلَيْهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to a drunkard. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "You people beat him." So some of us struck him with their hands, some with their shoes. One of those present said: "May Allah disgrace you." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Do not say this. Do not help Satan against him."
