أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْكَلاعِيُّ بِحِمْصَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ مَاعِزِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْعَامِرِيِّ ، أَنَّ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الثَّقَفِيَّ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، حَدِّثْنِي بِأَمْرٍ أَعْتَصِمُ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قُلْ : رَبِّيَ اللَّهُ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ " ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا أَكْثَرُ مَا تَخَافُ عَلَيَّ ؟ " فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلِسَانِ نَفْسِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : هَذَا " ، مَاعِزُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَهُ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ ، وَهُوَ مُتْقِنٌ .
Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Abdullah Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Tell me about something which I may hold firmly." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Say: My Lord is Allah, then remain steadfast." I said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! What do you fear most for me?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) held his tongue and then said, "This."
