Sayyiduna Jariyah bin Qudamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man presented himself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said, "Please advise me, and grant me a brief advice." The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Do not get angry." That man asked you the same question again, so you said the same: "Do not get angry."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "Do not get angry," by this he meant: After becoming angry, do not do anything from which I have forbidden you. It does not mean that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has prohibited feeling anger, because anger is part of human nature, and it is impossible to prohibit a person from something that is inherent in his nature. Rather, this prohibition is regarding those actions that result from anger, as we have mentioned.
