Hadith 5671

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ الأَغَرِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ فِيمَا يَحْكِي عَنْ رَبِّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلا : " الْكِبْرِيَاءُ رِدَائِي ، وَالْعَظَمَةُ إِزَارِي ، فَمَنْ نَازَعَنِي وَاحِدًا مِنْهُمَا ، قَذَفْتُهُ فِي النَّارِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conveyed this statement from his Lord: "Majesty is My cloak and greatness is My lower garment. Whoever tries to compete with Me regarding either of them, I will cast him into Hell."
