Sayyiduna Hisham bin ‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: “It is not permissible for any Muslim to remain estranged from another Muslim for more than three days; as long as he persists in his anger, he turns away from the truth. And whoever among them initiates (ending the estrangement), his initiative becomes an expiation for him. If he greets the other person and the other does not return the greeting, then the angels reply to his greeting, and Satan replies to the greeting of the other person. If both persist in their estrangement, neither of them will enter Paradise, nor will they be together in Paradise.”
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): “They will not enter Paradise, nor will they be together in Paradise,” means: If Allah, the Exalted, does not forgive them for their estrangement out of His grace, (then they will not enter Paradise).
