Hadith 5658

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَوْلا أَنَّ الْكِلابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الأُمَمِ ، لأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا ، وَلَكِنِ اقْتُلُوا الْكَلْبَ الأَسْوَدَ الْبَهِيمَ ، فَإِنَّهُ شَيْطَانٌ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "If dogs were not a specific type of creature, I would have ordered them to be killed. However, kill the black dog among them, for it is a devil."
