Salim narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Kill snakes and the snake with two lines on its back and the snake with a short tail, for both of them cause blindness and miscarriage."
The narrator says: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to kill all kinds of snakes until one day Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him chasing a snake and said: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has forbidden (killing) the snakes that live in houses.
