Hadith 5629

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَخٍ لِي يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُحَنِّكَهُ ، فَوَجَدَهُ فِي الْمِرْبَدِ ، وَهُوَ يَسِمُ غَنَمًا " ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : أَكْثَرُ ظَنِّي أَنَّهُ قَالَ : فِي آذَانِهَا .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I brought my younger brother to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) so that you could perform tahneek for him. I found the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the garden; you were branding the goats.
The narrator named Shu’bah says: I am fairly certain that the narration also contains these words: You were branding their ears.
