Hadith 5616

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْقَطَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَزَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِعِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ : إِنَّ عَبْدًا لِي أَبَقَ ، وَإِنِّي نَذَرْتُ إِنْ أَصَبْتُهُ ، لأَقْطَعَنَّ يَدَهُ ، قَالَ : لا تَقْطَعْ يَدَهُ ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُومُ فِينَا ، " فَيَأْمُرُنَا بِالصَّدَقَةِ ، وَيَنْهَانَا عَنِ الْمُثْلَةِ " .
Hasan Basri narrates: A man said to Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him): My slave has run away. I have vowed that if I find him, I will surely cut off his hand. Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do not cut off his hand. Once, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood among us (to deliver a sermon), and he commanded us to give charity and forbade mutilation.
