Hadith 5589

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ مُقَاتِلٍ الشَّيْخُ الْفَاضِلُ الصَّالِحُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مَعْبَدٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَخْطُبُ : " لا تُسَافِرَنَّ امْرَأَةٌ إِلا بِذِي مَحْرَمٍ ، وَلا يَخْلُوَنَّ رَجُلٌ بِامْرَأَةٍ إِلا بِذِي مَحْرَمٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon on the pulpit, saying: "No woman should ever travel without a mahram, and no man should be alone with a (non-mahram) woman unless her mahram is with her (then the ruling is different)."
