Abu Salih narrates: Sayyiduna Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the house of Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) looking for him, but he could not find him, so he went back. Then, when he met Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and came (with Sayyiduna Ali to the house of Sayyidah Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her), he spoke with Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I think you had some business with this lady. He replied: Yes, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has forbidden us from going to any woman whose husband is not present.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Abu Salih is Mizan. He is from the people of Basra and is trustworthy. He has heard hadith from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him), while Salman Taymi and Muhammad bin Hujadah have narrated from him. Other than these two narrators, no one else has narrated from him. He is not a student of Kalbi, because the student of Kalbi is weak.
