Hadith 5576

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ نَبْهَانَ ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَيْمُونَةُ ، قَالَتُ : فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَهُ أَقْبَلَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ أَنْ أُمِرَ بِالْحِجَابِ ، قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " احْتَجِبَا مِنْهُ ، فَقَالَتَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ : أَلَيْسَ هُوَ أَعْمَى ، فَمَا يُبْصِرُنَا وَلا يَعْرِفُنَا ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَلَسْتُمَا تُبْصِرَانِهِ ؟ ! " .
Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Once she and Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) were present with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). During this time, Ibn Umm Maktum came; he presented himself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). This was after the command of hijab had been revealed. Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Both of you observe hijab from him. Both of them said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Is he not blind? He cannot see us nor recognize us." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Are you both not seeing him?"
