Hadith 5567

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ ، إِنَّهُ لا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ لَحْمٌ وَدَمٌ نَبَتَا عَلَى سُحْتٍ ، النَّارُ أَوْلَى بِهِ ، يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ ، النَّاسُ غَادِيَانِ : فَغَادٍ فِي فَكَاكِ نَفْسِهِ ، فَمُعْتِقُهَا ، وَغَادٍ مُوبِقُهَا ، يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ ، الصَّلاةُ قُرْبَانٌ ، وَالصَّدَقَةُ بُرْهَانٌ ، وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ ، وَالصَّدَقَةُ تُطْفِئُ الْخَطِيئَةَ كَمَا يَذْهَبُ الْجَلِيدُ عَلَى الصَّفَا " .
Sayyiduna Ka’b bin ‘Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Ka’b bin ‘Ujrah! Such flesh and blood will not enter Paradise whose nourishment has been from the unlawful; the Fire is more deserving of them. O Ka’b bin ‘Ujrah! People go out in two conditions. One person frees himself and liberates himself, and another enslaves himself. O Ka’b bin ‘Ujrah! Prayer is a means of attaining closeness, charity is a proof, fasting is a shield, and charity wipes out sin just as a strong person climbs Safa.”
