Hadith 5556

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْبَزَّازُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ كَتَبَ إِلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، أَنِ اكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِحَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَدَعَا غُلامَهُ وَرَّادًا ، فَقَالَ : اكْتُبْ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنْهَى عَنْ وَأْدِ النَّبَاتِ ، وَعُقُوقِ الأُمَّهَاتِ ، وَعَنْ مَنَعَ وَهَاتِ ، وَعَنْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ ، وَكَثْرَةِ السُّؤَالِ ، وَإِضَاعَةِ الْمَالِ " ، سَمِعَ الشَّعْبِيُّ هَذَا عَنْ وَرَّادٍ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَهُ الشَّيْخُ .
Imam Sha’bi narrates: Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) asking him to write and send any hadith that he had heard directly from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) called his young (secretary) Warad and said: Write that I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding the burying of daughters alive, disobedience to mothers, not fulfilling the rights of others and usurping their rights, useless arguments and excessive questioning (i.e., unnecessary questions or asking without need), and wasting wealth.
Imam Sha’bi narrated this report from Warad on the authority of Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him). This was stated by the Shaykh.
