Hadith 5547

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ ، وَأَنَا أَتَكَلَّمُ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ الآخِرَةِ ، فَقَالَتْ : " يَا عُرَيُّ ، أَلا تُرِيحُ كَاتِبَكَ ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَنَامُ قَبْلَهَا ، وَلا يَتَحَدَّثُ بَعْدَهَا " .
Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father: Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) heard me talking after the Isha prayer, so she said: O Urwah, will you not let your scribe (i.e., the angels who record good deeds) rest? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would not sleep before the Isha prayer, nor would he engage in conversation after it.
