Hadith 5511

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، قَالَ : قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ الْمَدِينَةَ ، فَخَطَبَنَا ، وَأَخْرَجَ كُبَّةً مِنْ شَعْرٍ ، وَقَالَ : " مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَحَدًا يَفْعَلُهُ ، إِلا الْيَهُودَ ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَلَغَهُ ، فَسَمَّاهُ الزُّورُ " .
Saeed bin Musayyib narrates: Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah Munawwarah and delivered a sermon to us. He took out a bundle of artificial hair and said: I think that only the Jews do this act. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed about this, so he called it deception.
