Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had a gold ring made. He used to keep its stone towards the palm of his hand. People also had rings made, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his off and then said: "I will never wear it again." Then he had a silver ring made. It remained in his blessed hand, then in the hand of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), then in the hand of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), then in the hand of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), until it fell from him into the well of Aris.
