Hadith 5494

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ ، فَأَلْقَاهُ مِنْ يَدِهِ ، وَقَالَ : " لا أَلْبَسُهُ أَبَدًا ، وَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرَقٍ ، فَجَعَلَ فَصَّهُ مِمَّا يَلِي كَفَّهُ ، وَنَقَشَ فِيهِ : مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ فِي يَدِهِ حَتَّى قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had a ring made of gold. People also had gold rings made. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) removed it from his hand. He said: "I will never wear it again." Then he had a ring made of silver. He used to keep its stone towards the palm of his hand. He had the words "Muhammad Rasul Allah" engraved on it. This ring remained on his blessed hand until he passed away.
