Hadith 5486

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا عُشَّانَةَ الْمَعَافِرِيَّ ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَمْنَعُ أَهْلَهُ الْحِلْيَةَ وَالْحَرِيرَ ، وَيَقُولُ : " إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ حِلْيَةَ الْجَنَّةِ وَحَرِيرَهَا ، فَلا تَلْبَسُوهَا فِي الدُّنْيَا " ، قَالَ الشَّيْخُ : أَبُو عُشَّانَةَ : اسْمُهُ حَيُّ بْنُ يُومِنَ .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade his family from using jewelry and silk. He used to say: If you like the jewelry and silk of Paradise, then do not wear them in this world.
The Sheikh (i.e., Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him) says: The narrator named Abu Ashanah is Hayy bin Yawman.
