Hadith 5447

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، عَنِ الإِزَارِ ، فَقَالَ أَنَا أُخْبِرُكُ بِعِلْمٍ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِزْرَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِلَى أَنْصَافِ سَاقَيْهِ ، لا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ ، وَمَا أَسْفَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَفِي النَّارِ ، قَالَ ذَلِكَ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، لا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَى مَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ بَطَرًا " .
Ali bin Abdur Rahman narrates from his father: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) about the lower garment (izaar), so he said: I will tell you a matter of knowledge about this. I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The lower garment of a believer should be till the middle of the shin. There is no harm if it is between the middle of the shin and the ankles, but whatever is below that will be in the Hellfire. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times (and then said): Allah Almighty will not look with mercy at the person who lets his lower garment hang out of pride.
