Hadith 543

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ وَرْدَانَ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، وَزَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " دَنَا رَجُلٌ إِلَى بِئْرٍ ، فَنَزَلَ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهَا وَعَلَى الْبِئْرِ كَلْبٌ يَلْهَثُ ، فَرَحِمَهُ ، فَنَزَعَ إِحْدَى خُفَّيْهِ ، فَغَرَفَ لَهُ فَسَقَاهُ ، فَشَكَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ، فَأَدْخَلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man came to a well, he went down into it and drank water from it. At the edge of the well, there was a dog panting. The man felt compassion for it. He took off one of his socks, filled it with water, and gave the dog to drink. Allah Almighty accepted this deed of his and admitted him into Paradise."
