Hadith 5424

أَخْبَرَنَا شَبَابُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ بِوَاسِطَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " رَخَّصَ فِي الْعَلَمِ فِي إِصْبَعَيْنِ " .
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted marking (i.e., a strip of silk on a garment) as wide as two fingers.
