Hadith 5421

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَحْطَبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا اسْتَجَدَّ ثَوْبًا سَمَّاهُ بِاسْمِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِي هَذَا ، فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ ، أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِهِ وَخَيْرِ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَشَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wore a new garment, he would mention the name of that garment and recite this supplication: "O Allah! You have clothed me with this (cloak or shirt), all praise is exclusively for You. I ask You for its goodness and the goodness for which it was made, and I seek refuge with You from its evil and the evil for which it was made."
