Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from (using) Dubba’, Hantam, Naqir, and Muzaffat. (The narrator states:) As for Dubba’, we used to break grapevines and put them in a vessel called Dubba’, then bury it until it would die. As for Hantam, it is a jar in which we used to bring wine from Syria. As for Naqir, the people of Madinah used to take the root of a date-palm, hollow it out, put fresh and dry dates in it, and bury it in the ground until it would die. As for Muzaffat, it refers to a vessel that is coated with pitch.
