Hadith 5380

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ قَتَادَةَ بْنَ دِعَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى أَنْ يُخْلَطَ التَّمْرُ بِالزَّهْوِ ، ثُمَّ يُشْرَبَ ، وَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ عَامَّةُ خُمُورِهِمْ يَوْمَ حُرِّمَتِ الْخَمْرُ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade mixing dried dates with fresh dates (to prepare nabidh) and then drinking it, because when the command of the prohibition of alcohol was revealed, most alcohol was made in this way.
