The noble wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates: Some people from Yemen came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught them about the Sunnah and obligatory prayers. Those people said: O Messenger of Allah, there is a drink among us which we make from wheat and barley. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Are you asking about Ghubeera?" They replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Do not consume it." After two days, they again mentioned this matter before the Prophet (peace be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Are you asking about Ghubeera?" They replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Do not consume it." When those people intended to depart, they again inquired about this from the Prophet (peace be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Are you asking about Ghubeera?" They replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Do not consume it."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Umar bin Hakam is Umar bin Hakam bin Thawban, who is an ally of the Aws tribe and is among the distinguished individuals of the people of Madinah. He has heard hadith from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her).
