أَخْبَرَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ أَبُو جَابِرٍ بِالْمَوْصِلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْعَسْقَلانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : خَطَبَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَمَّا بَعْدُ ، فَإِنَّ الْخَمْرَ نَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُهَا يَوْمَ نَزَلَ ، وَهِيَ مِنْ خَمْسٍ : مِنَ الْعِنَبِ ، وَالتَّمْرِ ، وَالْعَسَلِ ، وَالْحِنْطَةِ ، وَالشَّعِيرِ ، وَالْخَمْرُ : مَا خَامَرَ الْعَقْلَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon to us on the pulpit of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), praising and glorifying Allah Almighty, then stated: When the command regarding the prohibition of alcohol was revealed, it was being made from five things: grapes, dates, honey, wheat, and barley. As for khamr, it is called for everything that covers the intellect.
