Hadith 5304

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " شَرُّ الطَّعَامِ طَعَامُ الْوَلِيمَةِ ، يُدْعَى إِلَيْهَا الأَغْنِيَاءُ ، وَيُتْرَكُ الْمَسَاكِينُ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يُجِبِ الدَّعْوَةَ ، فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : قَالَ لَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَنَا قَصَّرْتُ بِهِ ، لأَنَّ أَصْحَابَ الزُّهْرِيِّ كُلَّهُمْ كَذَا قَالُوا مَوْقُوفًا ، وَالْمُسْنَدُ هُوَ آخِرُ الْحَدِيثِ : وَمَنْ لَمْ يُجِبِ الدَّعْوَةَ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The worst food is the food of a wedding banquet (walimah) in which the rich are invited and the poor are left out, and whoever does not accept the invitation disobeys Allah and His Messenger.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Ibn Qutaybah narrated to us that this narration is transmitted from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). I have mentioned it briefly because all the students of Zuhri have transmitted this narration in the same way as a mawquf narration. The musnad narration is another one: "Whoever does not accept the invitation."
