Hadith 529

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ بِمَرْوَ ، بِقَرْيَةِ سِنْجَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ السِّنْجِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُمَيْلٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَبَسُّمُكَ فِي وَجْهِ أَخِيكَ صَدَقَةٌ لَكَ ، وَأَمْرُكَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ، وَنَهْيُكَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَإِرْشَادُكَ الرَّجُلَ فِي أَرْضِ الضَّلالَةِ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَبَصَرُكَ لِلرَّجُلِ الرَّدِيءِ الْبَصَرِ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَإِمَاطَتُكَ الْحَجَرَ وَالشَّوْكَةَ وَالْعَظْمَ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَإِفْرَاغُكَ مِنْ دَلْوِكَ فِي دَلْوِ أَخِيكَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your smiling at your brother is charity for you. Your enjoining good and forbidding evil is charity. Your guiding a man who is lost on the land is charity for you, or showing the way to a person whose eyesight is weak is charity for you. And your removing a thorn, stone, or bone from the path is charity for you. And your pouring from your bucket into your brother’s bucket (is charity for you)."
