Hadith 5267

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْتَ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ ، فَإِذَا بِضَبٍّ مَحْنُوذٍ ، فَأَهْوَى إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ ، فَقَالَتِ النِّسْوَةُ اللاتِي فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ : أَخْبِرُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ ، فَأَخْبَرُوهُ ، فَرَفَعَ يَدَهُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " لا ، وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ بِأَرْضِ قَوْمِي ، فَأَجِدُنِي أَعَافُهُ " ، قَالَ خَالِدٌ : فَاجْتَرَرْتُهُ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْظُرُ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I and Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) entered the house of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), daughter of Harith, along with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and there was roasted lizard there. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) extended his blessed hand towards it, but the women present in the house of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Inform the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) what he is about to eat. They informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about it, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) withdrew his blessed hand. The narrator says: I asked, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Is it forbidden? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: No, but it is not the food of my people, so I avoid it.
Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I pulled it towards myself (and started eating) while the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was watching.
