أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْتَ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ ، فَأُتِيَ بِضَبٍّ مَحْنُوذٍ ، فَأَهْوَى إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ النِّسْوَةِ اللاتِي فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ : أَخْبِرُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ ، فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " لا ، وَلَكِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ بِأَرْضِ قَوْمِي ، فَأَجِدُنِي أَعَافُهُ " ، قَالَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ : فَاجْتَرَرْتُهُ ، فَأَكَلْتُهُ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْظُرُ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I and Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) came with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with them both), daughter of Harith (who was also the maternal aunt of both myself and Sayyiduna Khalid). Roasted lizard was brought. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) extended his blessed hand towards it, when one of the women present in the house said: "O Messenger of Allah, do let him know what you are about to eat." (When the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was informed that it was the meat of a lizard) he withdrew his hand. The narrator says: I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Is it forbidden?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, but it is not the food of my people, so I avoid it."
Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I pulled it towards myself and ate it, while the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was watching.
